WDTutor is here to assist developers in how to access the power in PCSoft's Windev and Webdev tools. These tools are very powerful, but are different enough from other tools such as Visual Studio, that there is a definite learning curve required.
In a developer who is experienced with Windev or Webdev, it is 10 times faster to develop applications. But in a new developer, the goal is to get up to speed rapidly.
Your tutor is Brother Bill Steinberg, who started programming in 11'th grade on IBM 1620 Machine Language, using punched cards, and operating the computer directly. Since that time, he has programmed many languages, most recently Delphi and Visual Studio, and now WinDev and WebDev. Brother Al has acquired the WDTutor.com domain and Brother Bill Tutorials so he can add additional tutorials as time goes by.
As your tutor, he will use videos to demonstrate techniques, and have Help Files that give juicy, in-depth details. As PCSoft has been around for many years, much of their code has been improved, but legacy techniques have been kept for backward-compatibility. When writing new applications, wouldn't it be nice to avoid the legacy code and use best practices. WDTutor will demonstrate best practices, as well as show similarities to Visual Studio.
Some of the code will be free, other sections will be fee based. That's how I can support this site. For now, this site is hand coded in HTML. Soon it will be coded in WebDev.
You can reach Brother Bill for asawyer (at] asboinc.com for error reports, kudos, gripes or donations!
